Greetings! I was born in New Orleans, relocated to the Washington area in 1983 when I married my husband, and moved to Maryland in 1985. We have been married for 27 years and have five children. I am a home educator, a business owner, a licensed community counselor, and English teacher for international adult students. I have also developed courses on marriage and parenting, which I teach in religious communities.

I am running for Congress because this is a pivotal time in our nation’s history. We are currently on a path very different from the one our Founders had in mind. Our Constitution is the plan for the best form of government the world has ever known. Presently, I think our Republic is in jeopardy. We are indebted to those who came before us and are responsible to those who will follow us to try to restore our Constitutional principles.

We need to:

  1. Spend less, not tax more. Debt limits our options and weakens us as a nation. Our elected officials have a fiduciary responsibility to use our money wisely, as if it were their own, and to use it primarily to benefit our own citizens.

  2. Stop the overregulation and taxation that is driving business from our shores to other countries. Entrepreneurism and initiative must be encouraged and rewarded. It is what has made our country the most prosperous nation in history and has afforded millions the opportunity for a better life. The creativity of our people is our most important resource.

  3. Secure our borders and enforce our immigration laws. This is a matter of utmost importance to our national security. Political correctness must not be a priority over the protection of our citizens.

Chris Van Hollen, Assistant to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is the incumbent in Maryland’s 8th District. He has voted “yea” with her on the TARP bailouts, the stimulus package, cap and trade, and the health care bill. I ask for your vote to restore a system of checks and balances in our government and to stop this move toward socialism and bankruptcy. Redistribution of wealth by big government is NOT our answer. Historically, it has always been a failure.

I ask for your vote in Republican primary on September 14th. Also, please consider joining my team and donating to my campaign. I pledge to work hard for you and the America we all love.

We live in the greatest country in the world. Together we can preserve and strengthen it.

Sincerely,

Christine Thron
